Papers, 1971-1990.

The correspondence from 1971 to 1990 is primarily with publishers, editors, other writers, friends and fans. There are articles written about Nelson, especially in the context as editor and writer. Also included are reviews about his work Villy Sadness, and other works. The manuscripts are both typescript and handwritten, including for Vill Sadness, Skogmann: A Play in Five Acts, and The Nature Society. There is also a handwritten outline titled Red River that appears to have been an early working title for Home River. Nelson also collected research material and several photographs on Norwegian American writer who lived in North Dakota, Simon Johnson. There is a grant application for money to translate Johnson's works.
